Chronic Absence Of Bowel Movement, Had Suffered A Fall Earlier. Could The Fall Have Impacted Me?
I am 65 years old and fell on my back 2 weeks go. Had x-rays and no fractures. After a week with no BM I went to my doctor and he prescribed microlax and if that didn´t work and an enema. Nothing worked. He told me to do 2 more enemas and if they didn´t work to go to casualty. They x-rayed my abdomen and it is full of stool, but with no impactation. I have had a couple of liquid BM´s. They prescribed me movicol......more liquid BM´s. I have been taking movicol for one week. I have no more liquid BM´s but hardly anything else. Could the fall have done something to my intestines causing my bowel to stop working. Before I had a BM every morning. I am very worried. Both of my parents died of colon cancer. I had a colonoscopia 3 years ago and not due for another for 2 years.
It is quite possible that the fall might have lead to the present issue, especially if it involved the lumbar and sacral spine. I strongly advice you to seek help from neurologists in this regard, MRI spine should be done as a further work up as just x rays might not adequate.
I hope I was of help
Regards
