Chronic Cough, Sensitive Stomach, Swallowing Difficulty, Acidity Problem. Stopped Dairy Products, Gluten, Advised Nexium. Suggestion

I have been having chronic cough for the past 7 yrs., I also have a sensitive stomach since I was a child, in addition to it the past 5 years I have also had difficulty swallowing food getting stuck in my throat, often while swallowing liquids it seems to cause a cough while my throat feels irritated. Have had pain in my chest front breast bone toward the back
from the acidity. A few weeks ago for the first time I bend down to pick something up a gush od acid came up, right now it has been 4 weeks with constant acid, I have tried different remedies stopped dairy products since a week ago and gluten the past 3 days , the pain has improved but same acid. I have for endoscopy testing every year with
PH 24 hr testing and all is negative. My Dr.wants me to take Nexium 2X day. I don't agree, sing I had in in that route for 3 yrs.. What is your opinion please. Thank you.

Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I Have gone through your query regarding acid reflex and chronic throat irritation.

Your symptoms are strongly favors that most probably you are a chronic patient of dyspepsia. No doubt you acid of stomach had created the problem in throat, it is well documented and it is named as GERD (gastro esophageal reflex disease)

You are advice for-

!- Don't take spicy food.

2- Don't eat hurriedly during meals.

3- Took antacid having PPI and also increases gut motility.

4- Better to go for evening walk after dinner.

5- Adequate fluid orally.

I hope this will help you .

Regards.
