Chronic Pain In Neck, Back. Received Shots, Not Effective. Suffer From Fibermyalga. Taking Loratab. Solution?

I live in Altoona,PA. i have chronic pain and I receive shots in my back and neck. I cant sleep because of the pain I have inmy neck. It feels like my neck is being stabbed with an ice pic.The pain in my back is so bad,I can't stand at the stove to cook, without terminus pain, or wash dishes,play with my grandchildren. The shots aren't working and frankly I am tired of paying $1200.00 every 3 visits. My doctor will not give me a pain pill. I also suffer from fibermyalga (are doctors even allow to write for pain meds.) I take my husbands loratab10/325. They work for me as well as they do for him.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

At the outset I would like to inform you that there is no cure for Fibromyalgia but there are treatments which eases your symptoms and improve your quality of life.

A few antidepressent medications that are useful are Amitriptylene, Duloxetine and Fluoxetine etc.

Muscle relaxants are useful in providing pain relief as well as induce sleep owing to their sedative properties.

Other treatment options which can be used to help cope with the pain of fibromyalgia include:

* swimming, sitting or exercising in a heated pool or warm water
* an individually tailored exercise programme
* cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) - a talking therapy that changes the way you think about things so you can deal with problems more positively
* psychotherapy - a talking therapy that helps you understand and deal with your thoughts and feelings
* relaxation techniques
* physiotherapy - techniques such as massage are used to improve physical problems, such as muscle stiffness or weakness
* psychological support

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
