Chronic Pancreatitis, Sleeplessness. On Remeron. Refused To Given Ambien. What Is Wrong?
No query, exactly, just an observation. I was hospitalizied for pancreatitis(chronic)and the dr. at the hospital refused to give me ambien which I've taken successfully for 3 years and put me on remeron. This makes no sense and I wake up not getting much sleep and when I do it tends toward the nightmarish dreams. Oh,you're not going to help you will just want money.Right? YEp.
Zolpidem (Ambien) should be taken for the shortest possible time and in the least possible dose because it can cause dependence when taken for long duration. Most likely, this is the reason why your doctor has stopped prescribing you Zolpidem.
Remeron is a very sedating antidepressant and most patients find it very useful for sleeping at night. If you are not finding it useful, you can discuss with your doctor about trying other medicines like Amitriptyline which is also a very sedative medicine and will probably not cause night mares.
Please feel free to discuss further if you have any other query.
Kind regards
Vikas
