Cold, Fever, Coughing Bouts With Phlegm, Bleeding. Cause Of Worry?

Hi, I am in the midst of a terrible cold , with fever , so perhaps even the flu . I have occasional coughing bouts, which produce moderate amounts of phlegm . On two occasions, one today and one about five days ago, I have had scant blood, equivalent to about a drop in the phlegm. It is painful when coughing, and I do feel a lot of strain. I am wondering if the blood tinged that I have seen is something to worry about. Note, only two coughing bouts have I had a little blood. Thank you for your time.

HI I have gone through your mail and as you said that you have cough, fever,nasal congestion etc.You have notice some times scanty blood in sputum and you are worried about blood in sputum.I would like to suggest you that you should go for these basic investigations like -culture and sensitivity of throat swab, culture for fungus,sputum for AFB,X-Ray chest P-A view.After this you are advice to consult your E.N.T.specialist to examine your throat to find out any local lesion in throat as ulcer,growth etc which may give rise to blood in sputum,and clinical co-relation of symptoms with inferences of investigations,thus your treatment may be planed.
