Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 1.5 year old son is coughing so badly for 3 days. we went to a doctor yesterday. The doctor prescribed some medicine and said it was just a common cold since theres no fever . But His cough worsened last night and today he has a fever of 39 degree. Should I bring him back again or continue to monitor? Im worried its RSV since he caught it twice in his first year.
This could be an RSV infection. Keep in mind, RSV is typically not as severe in the second year of life as it is in the first. However, your son's worsening symptoms, combined with his young age, is a good reason to have your doctor examine him again. It is most likely the same harmless virus (RSV or otherwise), but in babies it's always best to be certain. No pediatrician would fault you for getting a second look.
