Cough, Nose Congestion, Chest Pain, Head Pressure, Headache. Taking Mucinex, Alkezeters. Problem?

my husband has been coughing, nose congestion, pain in chest , head pressure with headaches. the medicine he has been taking is mucinex , alkezeters for sinus and cold, and for headaches he takes exedrine migraine. what do you think he really has? he has been like this for several weeks, some days are better than others. he thinks he caught something awhile back at the hospital where he mother died. im fine and im pregnant, my son vomited up some mucus but he is better. any thing would be great. thanks.

I have gone through your query regarding cough, nose congestion, pain in chest head pressure and headache of your husband. Presentation of symptoms and effects of medicines he is taking favors acute upper respiratory tract infection.

Considering your all symptoms it appears as your nasal infection is draining towards throat due to post nasal drip and thus infecting your throat and ear via eustachian tube and giving rise to all above symptoms.

for confirmation of diagnosis you should do-

1- X-Ray paranasal sinuses.

2- Culture and sensitivity of throat swab.

3- X- Ray of chest (P.A. View).

4- Blood- CBC, ESR, Blood sugar - F & PP.

5- Urine - Routine and Microscopic.

With the help of these investigation your diagnosis may be made and accordingly treatment may be planed.
