Could Orsythia Be Causing Anxiety, Fatigue And Mood Swings?
My 15 year old daughter is taking Orsythia birth control to make her period more normal. She was constantly menstruating before that. She has taken it for one year. During that year she has complained about finding it hard to focus and concentrate, fatigue, anxiety. Her personality really changed. Moody and difficult. could this pill be causing it?
Hi, Welcome to HCM, Above symptoms could be due to Orsythia . I would advise to stop her medicines for 3 months, and observe her for her menstrual disturbances, and for her symptoms also. She may not need this hormonal medication any more. Initially when young girls start their menstruation, they might have these continuous menses. After three months of stopping the medicines, she must go for some hormonal tests specially TSH for thyroid hormones. Thyroid disturbances could be the reason for her symptoms as well as for menstrual irregularity. In case she starts bleeding again, she may restart any other safer oral contraceptive pills. Hope you got the answer. Dr H Hamdani
