Could Back Pain On Left Side, Right Over Kidney After Playing Golf Be Due To Muscle Tears?

I golf everyday but lately my back has been bothering me. The pain is on my left side, right over my kidney. It doesn't bother me right away. I warm up and play about 12 holes then it starts to hurt. I haven't golfed for two weeks and it is still bothering me. Mostly late in the day and evening. Golf injuries I have heard are usually muscle tears, if that is the case, what should I do?

Hi
Lumbar strains (muscle tear) or lumbar sprain (ligamentous) tear can be the reason for this. But have to rule out a ruptured disc or sciatica by physical examination for be on safe side.
For strain or sprain -you should have rest till the inflammation subsides.
Muscle relaxants like thiocolchicoside and NSAID group drugs like nimusulide or ketoprofen helps to get relief.
Physical therapy and excercises should be continued after that.
hope this may help you
thanks
