Could Blisters And Swelling In Scrotum Be A Reaction To Plavix?

My husband, age 79, had a quadruple bypass 3 weeks ago. Has been on Plavix since operation. Four days ago his scrotum swelled, there were blood blisters on both sides. I called dermatologist. He prescribed Vytone. I've been applying it 2X/day. Blisters are drying, swelling is down, inflammation less, pain is decreasing. But - can this happen again? Can this be a reaction to Plavix?

Hi I am Doctor Fahim and I will help you with your query

I have gone through your question. Your husband had been through a major operation, I wish him rapid and complete recovery. Scrotal swelling is a common problem in bed ridden patient with major illnesses. In patient lying flat in a bed or head end up, the most dependent portion is scrotum. Fluid accumulates here, leading to skin changes, because of the decreased blood supply. There are blister formation and skin breaches. It can secondarily infect leading to synergistic gangrene.
Plavix is anti-platelet and nor responsible for this swelling. However, S Albumin, Blood complete picture, and coagulation profile are to be carried out along with ultrasonography scrotum. Vytone and scrotal support can help. Rapid mobilization of the patient is of paramount importance in these cases.

I hope my answer will help. Do rate if you like it.
