Could Blood Pressure Be Related To Dental Anxiety Or Menopause?

At the dentist office today my blood pressure was 134/87, last week there it was 139/81. I understand the Dentist office is a bit stressing however my blook pressure has always been around 119/ 80. I am 47 and 130 lbs. Would this be slight dental anxiety or perhaps would be be or would my within the last 6 months full blown menopause be contributing? I eat a very healthy diet and excercise 2x a week. My chlorestrol is right at the top of the chart but not over into the 'high' numer.

Hello and thank you for using HCM.
I carefully read your question and I understand your concern.
I will try to explain you something.

Physical or emotional stress rises blood pressure and this is quite normal and happens in all people. If you run or experience an emotional stress like going to the dentist it is normal to have elevated blood pressure.

But, all sow the menopausal period in women is associated with alterations of blood pressure and manifestation of hypertension.

So, if I was your treating doctor I would say that it is difficult to judge only with 2 values. I would recommend you to measure your blood pressure 2 times a day, in mornings and evening for one week and see the mean values.
Or you can take a pressure holter monitoring for 24 h to better understand your real values. We say that we have hypertension if we find mean values exceeding 140/80 mmHg.
Only after having a real graphic we can decide what examinations we should do next.
Hope I was helpful.Best regards.
