Could Diarrhea And Weight Loss Be Due To Hyperthyroidism?
my friend is 24 years old, her FBS is 223 and RBS is 400, she's diagnosed as D.M but she didn't have any complain, but when she use insulin mixtared 10 IU s/c or even oral hypoglycemic drug she develop symptoms of hypoglycemia. but i'm not sure that she's really diabetic pt. i'm tring to collerate between her symptoms and hyperthrodism because she used to complain from diarrhae, hot intolerance and weight loss. please i want help.
Diarrhea and weight loss can be due to hyperthyroidism. Weight loss can also occur due to uncontrolled blood sugar values and diarrhea can be a part of diabetic autonomic neuropathy as well, in which case it is usually nocturnal and alternates with periods of constipation. Episodes of alternating hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia can be due to brittle diabetes or pancreatic diabetes. Usually I advice my patients to get an HbA1c along with FBS and Post Glucose or Post Meal BS. It gives an idea about the average blood sugars of the last 3 months and are subject to less variability as compared to other parameters. An HbA1c of greater than 6.5% is suggestive of Diabetes Mellitus. Hope it helps...

Hi Diarrhea and weight loss can be due to hyperthyroidism.
