Could Fever And Shaking A Warning Symptom Of Febrile Seizure?
My 22 month old daughter just woke up from sleep and had a fever of 102.3. I gave her 1 tsp of childrens advil (per my doctors advice) but was wondering why when she awoke and had fever (and still for a few mins after taking medicine) she was shaking a little all over. My son at 20 months had a febrile seizure, and i'm familiar with what seizures in general look like, this was not one, but is it a warning sign of one?
Shaking that your noticed probably is due to high fever also called as chills & rigors. However, a child can have febrile seizures, try to keep her temperature down to normal limit. You may give here paracetamol for high fever under your doctor's guidance. Also you can do cold sponging.
In case you notice apart from shaking , teeth gindering , tounge bite, frothing , uprolling of eyes, rush her to ER , that is a seizure.
Consult your doctor for appropriate treatment for the cause of fever.
Wish her good health
