Could Having Large Tonsils Be The Reason For Occasional Loss Of Voice While Talking And Heavy Breathing?
Hi i m a sixteen year old male and have problems talking to the point I try to talk and no sound comes out, this can be frustrating in class and can be rather worrying if a teacher ever comes to ask a question as I am unsure if a sound will come out. I have been told in the past by doctors in the past that I have very large tonsils to the point one doctor thought I had tonsillitis due to me having large tonsils when I didn t. I also have shortness of breath and have been told I breath very heavily and thought that my tonsils block my air ways and cause this. Do you think my tonsils could affect my voice and breathing and whether I should enquire to have them removed?
Hello,
Yes tonsil can very well affect breathing and speaking as they block the airway and and the resonator part of voice ie mouth.
You must get them removed if they are enlarged and causing blockage . or if you have recirrent episodes of sore throat.
It will be beneficial for your future as chances of snoring will decrease and your body growth will be good as proper oxygen will be delivered to your body by removal of the obstruction .
