Could Intake Of Sugary Foods Irritate The Stomach Tumor And Cause Bleeding?
hi i am looking after a lady with mild dementia also may have benign stomach tumour no signs of pain.she has been eating lots of sugary things like cakes sweets ect,and has been passing blood during the night.could these sugary foods irritate this and cause the bleeding.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history of Taking care of an old lady with dementia eating lots of sugary things and passing blood at night. There is no relationship of passing of blood per rectum and taking sugary things. Hence I would advise you the following. Take the patient to ER or a General Surgeon for clinical evaluation, per-rectal examination and ano-proctoscopy to get the cause of bleeding. It is possible to get conrvative management and any procedure if need be. Since the patient is bleeding, look for anemia and get the blood and urine and stool tests done. Get the patient started on proper medications so that a good recovery is possible.
