Could Lesions And Swellings On Scalp Be Sign Of Psoriasis?

My toddler (3yo) has one red itchy scab-like scab on her head that is oozing. It's a little smaller than a dime in size. I have psoriasis and it kind of looks like that but not flaky. Her scalp around the lesion/scab is a little swollen or raised a bit too. Could she have psoriasis this young or is it an infection?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

I would keep a possibility of Seborrheic dermatitis with secondary infection.

If I was your treating doctor I would have advised an Antidandruff lotion for shampoo thrice weekly e.g Cetrimide 5% solution OR Ketoconazole 2% lotion.

An oral antibacterial in syrup or suspension form would help resolve the secondary bacterial infection.

take care
regards
