Could Marijuana Cause Pain In Throat, jaw And Neck?

When I smoke marijuana I get throat, jaw and neck pain. The pain seems to be transferred and radiates from under the right side of my neck near my chin. My jaw bone is quite sore as well. I had a tonsillectomy Dec of last year, which had to be repaired due to excessive bleeding. Could this be marijuana related?

Hello,

I can understand your concern. Smoking Marijuana increases the temperature of your oral cavity and throat area along with tonsil area. It increases the blood flow to these area and as you have had a surgery in the area, sudden blood flow may cause you pain.

However, smoking Marijuana can always be a cause of ill effects on physical, mental and financial health, thus quitting it is never too late and is always advised.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HCM. Let me know if you have follow up questions.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
