Could The Mucoid Cyst On The Third Toe Have Caused The Nerve Damage Or Could It Be Something Else?

I had a mucoid cyst in my third toe. At firs the physician thought it was a callus. He started by shaving it down with a scapal. Then when he saw it was still very hard and dry he elected giving me a local to go further. He took quite a bit of callus off and discovered it to be a mucoid cyst. he removed it two days ago. ever since it removal I have had unusual and unbearable paiining on the foot. All of the toes of the foot are tender throbbing and burining and it radiates to ball of foot. I have not slept in two days. The pain is far greater than before it was removed. The physician thinks I am over exaggerating the pain. Could I possibly have nerve damage or could it have been some other type of growth. The growths appearance was solid rubbery and white.

Hi,

Welcome to HCM.

Pain will definitely be there after any incisional wound but if the pain is increasing even after analgesic treatment it is an indication of infection more than nerve damage. Nerve damage will usually present with numbness rather than pain. I suggest you get a swab of the wound tested for culture and sensitivity and get a prescription of appropriate antibiotics based on the test results. I also would suggest you get a stronger painkiller for the pain from your doctor. Thanks.
