Could The Spotting For Three Weeks Be Due To Marena?
I have the mirena and going on 2years with it. Have had no problems so far and then starting 3 weeks ago I started spotting and this has continued non stop for 3 weeks and it's a brownish color more than red. Not like a period. Could this be associated with the Mirena or something different
I've gone through your query. I can understand your anxiety.
Usually following hormonal IUD insertion people might experience symptoms like cramping & on & off bleeding /spotting (brownish discharge). These symptoms will settle within 6months.
In your case, brownish discharge after 2yrs might be a complication sometimes. I advice you to, - consult your gynaecologist for a USG pelvis in order to locate if there is any pathology & also for further assistance. - Also can take a course of depot medroxyprogesterone acetate or cyclic progestins till the spotting stops.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Get well soon.
