Could Upper Respiratory Infection Causing Extreme Back And Rib-cage Pain Be Something Serious?
I have pain when taking a deep breath when leaving when leaning forward or to the side in the upper right side of my back and rib cage.this has persisted for going on 5 months now it started with an upper respiratory infection I went to the doctor they gave me a z-pack the cough lasted for about 3 months finally the cough is gone but the pain is still there when I breathe I went back to the doctor actually the ER about 2 months ago they did a chest xray and MRI and found nothing is this something serious should I be worried I m kind of scared
First of all, no need to worry about lung diseases as your CT scan and MRI are normal. The possibility of musculoskeletal pain is more likely because your pain is associated with movements (breathing).
So, follow these below steps for better symptomatic relief in musculoskeletal pain: 1. Avoid heavyweight lifting and strenuous exercise. Avoid sudden jerky movements of chest. 2. Apply warm water pad on affected areas of chest. 3. Sit with proper back support. 4. Take simple painkiller and muscle relaxant drugs like Ibuprofen and Thiocolchicoside.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
