Hello!

Thanks for the query.

Coronaviruses belong to the family Coronaviridae.
These are enveloped viruses with a RNA genome. The genomic size of coronaviruses ranges from approximately 26 to 32 kilobases, extraordinarily large for an RNA virus.

Coronaviruses primarily infects upper respiratory and gastrointestinal tract of humans.Four to five different currently known strains of coronaviruses infect humans.

Coronaviruses are believed to cause a significant percentage of all common colds in human adults. Coronaviruses cause colds in humans primarily in the winter and early spring seasons.

SARS, or Severe acute respiratory syndrome, is the disease caused by SARS coronavirus.
It causes severe illness marked initially by systemic symptoms of muscle pain, headache, and fever, followed in 2–10 days by the onset of respiratory symptoms, mainly cough, dyspnea, and pneumonia. Another common finding in SARS patients is a decrease in the number of lymphocytes circulating in the blood.

Ribavirin, oseltamavir and lopinavir have been tried for SARS with unproven efficacy Treatment for SARS is mainly supportive.

Hope this could help you.
