Degenerative Disc, Root Canal Stenosis. Lower Back Pain And Stiffness, Knee Pain. Suggestions?
Hi. I ve just had an MRI scan and it showed evidence of l4-l5 degenerative disc and possibly root canal stenosis . I am 58 years old . Does this mean it all goes down hill from now on ? Ha ha I do suffer with lower back pain my hips are very stiff and painful along with very painful knees and other things but the list is endless . I would be interested to hear your views. L. Evans ( mrs)
Degeneration of the L4-L5 disc would imply that the disc that is normally present between the vertebra would not be able to function effectively. It would definately contribute to the pain that you are experiencing. It is treated with mediation ( oral and injections in some persons) and physical therapy.
Spinal stenosis is narrowing of the spinal canal. It is treated by pain medication, anti spasmodic medication when necessary, physical therapy and in some cases, surgery. In some persons it can result in significant problems but your doctor will monitor you and treat appropriately.
