Diabetic With Painful Swelling Behind Neck. Awaiting Biopsy Report. Could This Be Lymphoma? Is It Curable?
Hello sir, My dad is admitted in hospital now. He has a swelling on his back neck. Its painful when touching. Doctors doubt that it can be either lymph tb or lymph cancer. His biopsy is on next tuesday. He is just recently diagonised with diabetes too. what are chances of lymph cancer in his case? I am so worried. If it is lymph cancer, is it curable completely?
Hi, Thanks and welcome to HCM. It may be tubercular, nonspecific infection or even malignancy. LYMPH NODE BIOPSY will confirm the diagnosis. TB is definitely curable. Non specific infection is curable within a short time. Once the diagnosis is made as malignancy it depends upon the type as well as the stage of tumor Most of the malignancies detected in early stage with appropriate treatment will definitely recover. when it is in advanced stage with secondaries in distant organs will have bad prognosis. Hope this answer will serve your purpose. I shall be happy to answer any more queries. Take care. Dr.M.V.Subrahmanyam.
