Diagnosed With Diverticulitis, Excruciating Pain, Blood Work Normal, Fluctuating WBC. Is It Normal ?
I was diagnosed with Diverticulitis in April. On Saturday i had a colonoscopy that showed no problems, no flareups of Diverticulitis. I didn't have any discomfort until 4 hours later when I woke with excruciating pain. I was sent to the hospital and they performed X-Rays and CT Scans that showed no perforations or problems. I had a CBC that showed the following: WBC 23.5 % Lymphs 9.3 % Neuts 85.1 absolute Grans 20 They were alarmed with the high WBC but couldn't find the reason why. They sent me home with antibiotics and anti-spasm medications. I went back to the Gastro Dr on Tuesday and he took more blood. I just got the results back and my WBC and all other areas are within normal ranges. IS IT NORMAL TO HAVE A WBC OF 23.5 THAT FLUCTUATES TO 7.9 IN 3 DAYS?
Hello! It may be possible that the counts came down to normal levels within 3 days as you have received a course of antibiotics. So nothing to worry. I hope this will help you. remain in touch
