Hello. I m Dr. Christensen. I m sorry you re having difficulty conceiving. As you ve discovered, clomiphene (Siphene) does help stimulate ovulation. However, clomiphene only induces ovulation in about 3/4 of women who take it, and it won t necessarily trigger ovulation every month you re taking it. Therefore, it s quite possible you didn t ovulate during your last cycle, and this would explain why you haven t had a period. Women who are under 35 years of age who take clomiphene have about a 15% chance of getting pregnant each month they re using the medication. Unfortunately, the overall pregnancy rate among clomiphene users is only around 50%. If your doctor chooses to stop the clomiphene, he/she will no doubt review other options, such as in vitro fertilization. If you re not currently taking metformin, this medication might improve your chances of conceiving and carrying a pregnancy to term, too.
