I have been diagnosed with bilateral thinning of the parietal bones. I noticed the depressions on my skull some years ago and have seen my GP two years ago. She has referred me to two neurosurgeons; the second referred me to an endocrinologist, specializing in osteoporosis. After a CT scan of the skull/brain area and consultation with the bone society, my endocrinologist put me on Prolia injections. After one year on Prolia, a second CT scan of the skull/brain showed that the "vault of the skull is stable and ... that there is ample depth of the inner table of the bone within the context of the skull to protect [the] brain ..." I am continuing on Prolia (3rd six-monthly injection) and will have another CT scan of the skull/brain in a year. I realize that my condition is very rare, occurs primarily in elderly women (I am 72 yrs old and of Japanese/Chamorro descent) and most likely ,genetic-based.
Question: Are there other things I should do, such as consult other specialists to get other opinions?
Thank, you. Connie Wilson (Sydney Australia)
