Diagnosed With Rheumatoid Arthritis. Reddish Rashes Recurring Under The Eyes. Any Suggestions?

I HAVE BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS SINCE 1986 & IS CONTROLLED WITH BIOLOGICS SINCE 1999. ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO, I STARTED GETTING A RED RAISED SCALY RASH UNDER BOTH EYES BUT NO WHERE ELSE ON FACE. IT LINGERS FOR ABOUT A WEEK OR TWO THEN GOES AWAY. I SEEM TO GET IT ABOUT EVERY 3 MONTHS. COULD THIS BE AN OVERLAPPING SYMPTOM ASSOCIATED WITH AN AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE AS WELL? SUCH AS IN LUPUS? I DO NOT GET THE CLASSIC "BUTTERFLY RASH" AT ALL- IT IS LOCALIZED TO JUST UNDER BOTH EYES- WHERE THE SKIN IS VERY FRAGILE.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR RESPONSE IN ADVANCE.

Rheumatologist 's  Response
Hi !
Thank you for your query.

Dear Terez,

Well I agree with you view . Rash in periorbital area is unlikely in rheumatoid athritis. It can be seen in overlap syndromes . Have you got any other new symptoms beside this one specifically do you feel weakness in muscles while getting up from bed or sitting position , any frequent oral ulcers , photosensitivity etc.
IF you provide this information it will be better. Anyways you need to see a rheumatologist immediately for evaluation of disease activity and Getting an ENA profile and some other specialised tests may be required for further work up.

Hope you are satisfied with the answer.
If you have any further queries feel free to ask.
Wish you good health.
Take care.
