Displaced Right Humerol Fracture. Ct Scan Shows No Callus Formation. Will There Be Callous Formation?
I broke my humerus right through the bone - transverse with displaced ends - 5 months ago. I am more afraid of surgery than of death. A CT scan showed no callus formation. The bones are quite close but out of alignment. I am in a brace and sling. Is there any chance that a callus can form if the bones are pushed together?
Hi,Dear.Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC. The problem is named as non union because the bones have not united after the fracture. Yes there are chances of callus formation, for that a surgical procedure is required to unite the fractured part using a metallic rod either or putting a bone graft in b/w the fractured segments. Now you should not wait for their union using brace it better to get an internal fixation done. The surgery will be under anaesthesia so no need to be scared of it.You can ask your doctor for doing it under GENERAL ANAESTHESIA so you will not be aware of anything during surgery. So do not panic, keep calm. After the surgery you will be alright. Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.
Wishing you good health.
