Do I Need A Lumbar Laminectomy To Remove A Bulging Disc?
Hi I've just been told by my neurosurgeon that I need a Lumbar Laminectomy to remove a badly bulging disc. I have had a year of leg and back pain. But, on top of this I have diastasis recti.... I'm now worried about whether I should be focusing on getting the problem with my abdomen fixed before having the back surgery or, would having my abdomen repaired alleviate the problem with my disc? I'm confused as to where I should turn first.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. The treatment options for Lumbar bulging disc depends upon degree of bulge and associated complications. In mild to moderate cases muscle relaxants , NSAIDs and physiotherapy will benefit. But that is not giving improvement then you can consider minimal invasive surgeries like Microdiscectomy or laminectomy. If you send your MRI and further details then i can comment on it more.Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
