Do eye drops eg) Systane Ultra get rid of eyelid swelling/ the lid and eye changes associated with dry eye? Note that I am also receiving treatment for hypothyroidism (as of last year) and hope that this will contribute to improved eye health/get rid of thickened eyelids, but have had dry eye problems for decades before I ever had any hypothyroidism problem. (age 37, 5ft, 9 stone) History: Have previously been given mast cell stabilisers for the eye w no obvious benefit. I discontinued use after approx 2 months but have never really had itchy red eyes. Another doctor said eye dryness is the problem not allergy. Previous eye drops for dryness though did little to deal with the 'cosmetic changes in the eye, lid issues' I have experienced over the years.
Systane is a very genuine and popular brand order by many Opthalmologist in case of dry eyes. They are usually supplemented in case the doctor had noticed lack of moisture in the eye or there is inadequate tear film formation. In your case it may be helpful if the eye lids are not closing the ball properly. Since the examined doctor had better knowledge about you than me I would go with his advice and let you continue the drops. He was confident about non allergy reasons.
