Do I Need To Undergo Surgery As Reports Show Disk Desiccation?
My MRI impressions are :
- Broad based disk bulge combined with ligamentum Flavum hypertrophy at L4-L5 and L5-S1 Resulting to Bilateral mild neural foraminal stenosis at L4-L5.. These are stable
-disk desication at L4-L5 and L5-S1.
-more apparent annular tear at L5-S1.
Do I need to undergo surgery as soon as possible? Thanks,,,Shirley
welcome to Health care magic. 1.No, surgery is not the primary step in your case. Physiotherapy should be tried.Since report says mild mass effect on the nerve root. 2.Disc desiccation means loos of hydration and there is also tear noted at the L5-S1 level needs intervention depending on the symptoms. 3.Depending on the age, and underlying medical condition the treatment depends on. 4.I would suggest interventional treatment - which is less involvement of surgical procedure.
Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health. Anything to ask ? do not hesitate. Thank you.
