Do Rock Climbing, Heard A Pop In Fingers. Now Swollen, Won't Straighten. X-ray No Visible Fracture. Suggestions?
I do indoor rock climbing , and about a month ago I grabbed a hold and heard my fingers "pop". Since then my ring finger on my left hand has been swollen and it won't straighten (the lower knuckle is sore to apply pressure to). I had a X-Ray of my finger and there is no visible fracture. I have been wearing a splint to bed, which does help with the mobility during the day. I am trying to avoid going to the the doctor's office seeing I have an extremely high deductible insurance plan ($3500) and I would rather save the money if this will eventually heal on its own, with more pampering!
Hi and thanks for using this forum. I am so sorry about what you experienced.
The xray did not show any bony lesions, this means that you most likely have soft tissue strain and or damage. It often takes sometime for this to resolve and the full functionality of the joint regained. It needs time, please be patient and you will soon start seeing remarkable improvement.
Continue pampering...and be a little more patient. Take some pain killers to help reduce the burden and hasted the recovery process.
Hope this helps. Feel free to come back with more qusetions Wish you a speedy recovery.
