Does Ayurveda Have Medications For Treatment Of Tardive Dyskinesia?
my brother 25 yrs of age has developed tardive dyskinesia in limbs due to anti depressants(allopathic) which were given for about 1 month.Then we shifted to ayurvedic medications for depression but tardive dyskinesia is the main concern.what are the medications for tardive dyskinesia in ayurveda?
** 1. Since duration is of 1 month, [could be mild cognitive impairment] and the most common cause is use of certain kind of antipsychotics [anti depressants in your case]. PS. If you are taking any antipsychotic drug than you need to talk to your doctor for changing/reducing the dose of the said drug. [never stop abruptly]
2. check with a Neurologist for detailed examination and baseline Investigations: mainly vitamin B12 and thyroid profile.
3. In Ayurveda 'Ashwagandha' is said to be a real potent regenerative tonic (Rasayana ), as well as recent studies suggest Withania Somnifera' . has Cognition Promoting Effect . has GABA mimetic effect, thus promote formation of dendrites PS. You can take it either in syrup form, powder form or as avleha along with vitamin E and B12 rich diet
