Does Synesthesia Processed In Brain? How Are People With Synesthesia Different? Genetic?

I have some questions about Synesthesia. Where is it processed in the brain? How are people with Synesthesia different? What are some traits synesthetes often possess? Is it genetic? Can it be induced? Is there any link between Synesthesia and other mental abilities or disabilities? Is Synesthesia found in other species?

People with Synesthesia are usually phillosophical, poetic, day dream more, creative and sometimes may be a bit of eccentric

It is processed in brain, but not always. Substance abuse, excessive mental fatigue sometimes in normal individuals can cause synaesthesia

Usually it is not genetic and not associated with severe mental disabilities unless it is associated with other disabling mental illness
