Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Does Aortic Stenosis Cause Fatigue, chest Pains And Shortness Of Breath?
I have aortic stenosis and I have chest pains and shortness of breathe in doing small tasks. I am being monitored by a heart doctor yearly but the last two months it has gotten worse. I also have a constant dry cough. I have swelling in my legs and ankles but some of this is from a car accident I had years ago and many surgeries later. My doctor last year said I was at about 6-7 out of 10 in severity. I know I will need a heart valve replacement but right now I don't feel very good. I also don't sleep very well because of my chronic pain incurred from the car accident but I am also tired. I'm not sure how much it has progressed or if any of these symptoms are pertained to aortic stenosis.
Hi....In my opinion you should consult your cardiologist again. Many of the symptoms that you mention may be due to worsening of aortic stenosis.Swelling of the ankles, chest pain and shortness of breath are typical symptoms of heart disease. Also persistent cough which disturbs sleep at night is a pointer to the same. Hence I would recommend that you see your cardiologist without much delay
