Does Changing To Glucomet From Galvus Affects Blood Sugar Levels?

Presently I am taking GALVUS 50 two times a day, as prescribed by my Doctor. Along with this 1 time I am taking GLUCOBAY 50. Can I change to Glucomet 500 instead of GALVUS 50 (as it is very costly)? Whether this will affect my blood sugar level? Kindly suggest.

Diabetologist 's  Response
Dear sir

Glucomet contains metformin which increases the insuli sensitivity, cornerstone treatment for the type 2 diabetes.

Glucobay contains acarbose 50 mg which decreases the sudden surge of sugars after meal by blocking enzyme alpha glucosidase inhibitors.

Galvus contains vildagliptins which belong to newer group of drugs called DPP4 inhibitors acts by increasing the glucose dependent insulin secretion.

So all these drugs belong to different groups of drugs so one cannot constitute the role of another.

Thanks
