i have been suffering from urticaria since the last18 months, for this i take anti allergy everyday, sometimes even these doesn't help.i had similar skin rashes many years back when i was administered ampicilin, the rashes had to be treated with steroids. i was diagnosed with diabetes 5 yrs back and hv been taking metformin since 4 yrs and acarbose since last 1 yr I need immediate help for my urticaria as it is very bothersome
You have a very relevant medical history that has to be considered together with a good physical examination.
With diabetes, that makes me want to think you might be suffering from auto-immune dermatitis reason why only steroids could help you.
You should meet a dermatologist to follow you up as with a relevant medical history like yours, you don't getting treatment for other problems base on try and error.
Hi ... Thanks for writing in to Healthcare Magic. Urticaria is allergic phenomenon which in not dangerous but bears considerable morbidity. A regular treatment with anti allergic medicine like levocetirizine is required for long term. If it flare up then you may need adding up steroid while continuing levocetirizine. Urticaria is an allergic response to some allergen, it may be anything of daily use like soap, deodorant, other body sprays, sanitizers, oils, creams, dusting powder, new food material, even particular set of cloths that you started using, just to name a few. Try to point out the culprit and exclude it and you will improve remarkably. Try I hope the advise will be helpful for you.
