I've been a diabetic since 1997 and am on 126 units of Novomix insulin a day. I have always had body odor and tend to perspire more than most people. I do notice that my odor has gotten much much worse. Is it the insulin (since about 2010) and metformin that I take daily that's doing it or is it the diabetes in me? I am 63 years old and diabetes is in my family, though I'm the only one of a brood of 8 children who has inherited it.
hi, body odour could be cause by a lot of things, but the most important one is the skin condition. diabetics are prone for skin infections- bacterial and fungal...which are occasionally hidden in unseen areas. you may check yourself for any suspicious patch. secondly, altered sweat gland blood and nerve supply can alter the sweat mechanics in diabetics and can also induce bad odours if the sweat is not cleaned at regular intervals. it is hence suggested that diabetics always should keep their skin dry. all the best.
