I am a 47 yr old female with chronic back back since late Dec. 2010. Went to Ortho in Feb. 2011 and had lumbar x-rays. They did not show anything. Went through PT and medication. Helped a little at the time. Finally, went for couple of months without any pain, then it can back worse than before. Pain radiated into right buttock and right leg down to mid thigh. Went back to Ortho. He got had an MRI done. It shows mild bulging disc at L1 and L2. My F/U with him is 2 weeks from now, but my question here today is Can this bulging disc cause gas and loose bowels? Trying to find out so that I will know whether to mention it to him or not. Thanks.
Disc bulge does not cause gas and loose motions. The pain medications taken for pain relief can be one of the reasons of such symptoms during pain treatment.
