Does Hole In Place Of Tonsils Closes Up After Tonsilectomy?
Hello, i would like to know, does the hole where both tonsils were close up after tonsillectomy? If so, when does it close up? I am 5 days post-up and still in a lot of pain. I also refuse to look in my throat for the next 2 weeks because its traumatizing to do so.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Hole at the site of tonsil removal is due to the wound formed due to the excision of the tonsils and as it is just 5 days, you should keep patience as gradually when the healing will proceed the holes will get filled gradually. So for now follow the post surgery instructions given to you by your surgeon and take antibiotics and anti inflammatory painkillers. Take more of soft and semi solid meals and drink plenty of cool fluids and eat ice cream. Pain should get better in a week while the holes can take longer to get healed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Regards, Dr. Honey Arora
