i am looking at my options about getting a hysterectomy done, but i am worried it will induce early menopause....i am only 31. do i have much to worry about? i suffer from terrible periods every month, and i feel like this might be a way to stop the grief. no, i am not considering children. can you give me some advice on this?
Hi, If heavy periods is your only complaint, you should reconsider your opinion of getting a hysterectomy done and I think no specialist would suggest the same considering your age. There are several ways of treatment to get over the problem without surgery. If absolutely necessary, endometrial ablation may be considered. I would ask you to see a specialist, get a complete evaluation and then get an opinion on the further management. Rushing to remove the uterus not only can induce an early menopause, it can also lead to psychological disturbances and osteoporosis early on. Hope this helps.
