Hello there.
All itch is not scabies!
Nocturnal
pruritus can have many causes including Hodgkin's
lymphoma but yes Scabies is by far the most common.
Scabies typically involves the extensors & the web spaces & sites like the elbows & wrists are more often involved than not.
It persists' throughout the day & 'worsens' at night.
At night, any itch is heightened in my august opinion because one is not 'busy' & the brain focuses more on it!
Please do visit a
dermatologist nearest you & feel free to use this HCM website to source one out. If in Bangalore, please feel to drop in on me at Vikram hospital. It may require a battery of simple tests' to aid the diagnosis.
Does anyone else in your family/vicinity/work-space/close environment & in contact with you have a similar rash? If so, it points more to an infection like scabies.
Do get back to me with answers to the questions & we can take it from there. In the interim, do use a 180mg tablet of
fexofenadine taken once a day to allay the itch.
Wish you a clear skin soon.
