Thank you for the query. As per the history, you are a type 2 diabetic for the past 17 yrs (present age 64yrs), with a HbAic of 7.9% Jalra is an oral hypoglycemic agent composed of Vildagliptin (50 mg). Jalra M comprises of Vildagliptin 50mg and Metformin 500 mg (both are very potent drugs). Vildagliptin is an oral hypoglycemic agent (OHA), belonging to the class of drugs called DPPIV inhibitors. Some minor side effects may be nausea, dizziness and headache. In some cases, deranged liver function tests may occur. However, a serious but rare adverse effect reported with vildagliptin is pancreatitis. It advised that the amylase and lipase level may be monitored, and if there is abdominal pain, this drug should be stopped and the primary physician must be informed. Hope this helps you out.
