Does Melted Ice In Soda Cause Scratchy Throat And Cough?

Whenever I drink a soda over ice, when the ice melts into the soda it causes me to have a very scratchy throught and cough for several minutes. It does not bother me to drink soda, or even drink it over ice as long as I drink it before the ice melts. And this has always happened for as long as I can remember. I m almost 51 years old

Hi
Welcome to HCM

The soda and ice both are the precipitating factor for throat irritation thus causing cough and throat pain. As the ice melts the temperature of the soda further drops and causes the symptoms.

Thanks
Regards
