Hello and welcome to hcm,

Usually in dental procedures, lignocaine or lidocaine solution aith or without adrenaline is recommended.
In severe cases, general anaesthesia is given under supervision of anaesthesiologist.
Morphine is usually not recommende to numb the nerves.
Usually local anaesthsia is injected in pulp therapies, extraction of teeth etc.
Please do get an opinion of your dentist regarding such treatment plans.
These procedures are carried under medical supervision.
Take care.

Dentist Dr. Farah Hussain's  Response
hello there ,

Morphine is a powerful opiate drug which is used to relieve severe pain .

Morphine is primarily used to treat both acute and chronic severe pain. It is also used for pain due to myocardial infarction and for labor pains.

Morphine is a potentially highly addictive substance. It can cause psychological dependence and physical dependence as well as tolerence.

i would suggest you to consult a physician before using the drug .

The drug is highly addictive so its regular use should be avoided.

i hope this helps,

take care.

hello,
first of all morphine is not given to provide anaesthesia ... it ia an opiod, anti inflammatory drug given post operatively or during severe pain. . local anaesthetic agents are given to numb the area. if it is an infected site your local anaesthesia wont work properly due to high level of infection and acidic environment around tht site.. it is advised to give antibiotic coverage 3days prior to surgical procedure so that infection will be under control and adequate anaesthesia is achieved.
thanks

Hi
Welcome to HCM
I would like to tell you that morphine is very potent analgesic but its an opioid drug with many side-effects & also habit forming so its generally avoided.
Secondly if you are talking about anesthesia then i would like to tell you that lignocaine is preferred as local anesthesia. Morphine is never given to anaesthetise.
Consult your dentist before taking any medicine.

Take Care

Hello and Welcome to HCM,
Thanks for writing to us.
This medication is used to treat severe pain. It acts on certain centers in the brain to give you pain relief. This medication is a narcotic pain reliever (opiate-type).
Use this medication exactly as prescribed to lessen the risk of addiction.
Hope this helps you.
Wishing you good health...
Regards.

Dentist Dr. Qazi Ammara's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

Morphine is generally not recommended for dental use,
It is an opiod analgesic.

During dental procedures there are different methods of giving nerve blocks to control pain, and they work very well, if you are having delayed onset of anesthesia, your dentist can increase the dose of the anesthetic solution.

Visit to your Dentist and get suitable analgesics prescribed.

Hope this helps out.

Regards.

Dentist, Endodontics Dr. Manisha Rao's  Response
Hi, your question is not clear. If you are referring to the pain control while doing a dental procedure, local anesthetics generally work very well. There are different methods like a nerve block which work effectively for pain control. For some patients the dose of local anesthetic has to be raised and also there may be a delay in onset of anesthetic effect. Morphine is generally not recommended. Your dentist is the best person to choose the pain control method. Take care!
