Does Severe Cramping With Dark Blood Clot Indicate A Miscarriage?

Did I have a miscarriage? I would have been 4 weeks. I had brown spotting the first day, with severe cramping. The next few days I had bright red blood with lots of dark clotting. Now I am having gray and pink discharge. I am 18 years old. I have not been pregnant before that I know of. This is the first time this has happened to me. I have not been to a doctor but I did experience pregnancy like symptoms.

Hello
Thanks for writing to us with your health concern.
Any kind of menstrual bleeding that deviates from the normal could be a miscarriage.
Right now, if you have already miscarried, even a pregnancy test would not be reliable.
Please go for a pelvic transvaginal ultrasound scan - that will tell you if you miscarried.
Also, the altered bleeding could be due to - anxiety, stress, weight gain, late nights, erratic eating habits.
A cervical erosion or polyp or uterine fibroid also can present this way.
T o know the cause please have a formal gynecological check up - per vaginum and per speculum internal evaluation plus a scan.
Also, hormonal levels - FSH, LH, TSH, Prolactin.
ANxiety, weight gain, late nights, erratic eating habits - all these too can cause irregular bleeding.
Do not worry too much.
All the best.
Take care.

Symptoms you have mentioned are similar to that of miscarriage, but as you haven't confirmed pregnancy with HCG test i would suggest you to go for ultrasound scan to find any fetal remnants and wait for your next period.
