Does Snoring And Wheezing Needs Tonsil Removal In A Child?

Hello, my 2 yr old nephew has had constant clear drainage from his nose since he has been 4months old. He snores horribly when sleeping and he has a wheezing sound from chest. His parents finally took him to ENT and doctor immediately said tonsils and adenoids needs to be removed. My sister is a little hesitant because doctor just looked at throat but didn t do any other tests or more through exam.

Hello,

Yes, snoring due to adenoids may need surgical removal. Otherwise it may lead to complications like middle ear infection or growth problems.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
