Does Spicy Food Cause Stomach Discomfort?

Hi This morning I woke up and the middle of my stomach have discomfort feels like sometone punch me in the stomach. I did have something spicy for dinnerlast night , can that be the causes of my discomfort.. I've tooken a prevcid already but its not helping

Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Noted the history of having discomfort in the middle of the stomach after having spicy food for the dinner a night before and Prevacid is not helps, wants to know whether the spicy food caused the problem.
Since your history is short, with the available information, this looks to be gastritis and /or colitis secondary to spicy food.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Continue Prevacid.
Add on Ranitidine.
Antacids every three hours.
Domperidone.
If there is no relief, go for an upper GI Endoscopy so that a proper diagnosis and proper management can be done.
Have soft bland small frequent foods.
Avoid outside food and no beverages at all.
