Does The Switching To Tri-sprintec From Loestrin Fe Help Me Stop The Bleeding?
I recently stopped use of lo loestrin fe after using it for one month. I was on ortho tri cyclen lo for over 7 years a very long time ago. I am starting tri-sprintec tomorrow. I have been bleeding for 7 days now since using lo loestrin fe. Will switching help to stop the bleeding?
Both Loestrin fe as well as Tri-sprintec belong to the same group of combined hormone contraceptives. Hence switching of one to another should not make much difference. However, prescription of one or the other of these two, may depend on the preference and experience of individual prescribing gynecologist.
Presence of disturbed periods like- short or prolonged, light or heavy, irregular bleeding and vaginal spotting may be normal side effects with both of these, particularly for first few months. However, these effects are mostly self limiting and these may subside themselves within some time without any specific treatment. Still, if the bleeding becomes more heavy or prolonged, then you should see your doctor about this and treatment may be done accordingly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
