Does Urinary Tract Infection Cause Decrease In Hemoglobin?

Hello this question is for my mom, she's around 54 years of age, height is around 5'5 and she's been a Hepatitis C patient in the past - fully treated and all recent tests are negative. There's an obstruction in her kidneys as well for which she's being getting diagnosed but right now her sugar is above 600 due to Prednisolone (6 5mg tablets in the morning and in the evening), she was diagnosed for a wrong disease in the kidney so the other kidney specialist reduced the Prednisolone drug and brought it to 2 gradually....but still her blood sugar level is out of control and she's been admitted to the hospital to get treatment...and now they're getting it control through insulin. She's also having Urinary Tract Infection for which she's being currently treated. Her haemoglobin level is also decreasing alarmingly, last wk it was 8.8 and now it's around 7.7...I wanna know if Urinary Tract Infection (Caused by E.Coli) is responsible for higher blood glucose level or decrease in haemoglobin?

Respected user , hi
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.com
I have evaluated your query thoroughly .

* Directly urinary infection with E.coli is not responsible for high blood
glucose or decrease in hemoglobin , but
$ If urinary infection is associated with kidney disease or damage --
kidneys do not make enough erythropietin -- bone marrow makes
fewer RBCs -- anemia
$ Blood loss from hemodialysis -- anemia
$ Low iron in nutrients -- anemia

Hope this clears your query .
Welcome for any further assistance .
